A Community of Commitment On his day off, Sean Dunham goes to his favorite hangout: the Granite Quarry Fire Department. Recently, he arrived at 8 a.m. and left 24 hours later. For his diligence, he received an “attaboy” from the chief, but no pay. Sean, like 735 others in Rowan County, is a volunteer firefighter – a member of a special community bonded by their sense of duty and commitment. Read more here.

Hundreds of fans, some standing five and six feet deep, greeted the stars of Leatherheads during a whistle-stop promotional tour that brought Renee Zellweger and George Clooney back to the Salisbury Depot, where portions of the film were shot.

With a new and unique workout facility in Spencer, DeSanto has molded a boxer training regimen into a workout for today’s woman.
